About the event
Join bird lovers from across the country for the Cairns Birding Festival 2025 – a week-long celebration of Far North Queensland’s stunning birdlife, art, and community.
Running from 22 to 31 August, the festival features guided birding walks, specialist talks, wetland tours, and spotlighting adventures in some of the region’s most iconic locations. Highlights include the Michaelmas Cay day trip, Daintree River Cruise, Esplanade high-tide gatherings, and the Endangered Species Project. The festival kicks off with an art exhibition by Scott Ritchie and Shanna Trees, and wraps up with “Welcome to the Waders” on the final Sunday.
Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just curious, there’s something for everyone – but be quick, bookings are essential for some events!
