Are you feeling a bit housebound with all the concerns about high fuel prices and dismayed you may have to curtail your birding trips for the foreseeable future? Well, BirdLife Northern Queensland has a suggestion for you – why not volunteer to help us complete our annual grasswren surveys which take place in the Mount Isa region of western Queensland? We have received a grant from Southern Gulf NRM which will enable us to meet our volunteers’ fuel costs, even with the high prices of fuel at the moment.
We will be starting our surveys near Mount Isa on 15 June this year, for a duration of two weeks, ending at 30 June 2026. These surveys will be done on several properties northwest of Isa.
