About the event
Eungella Bird Week 2023 is a program of citizen science surveys, informal birding, and social events in the rainforests and woodlands in the Eungella district in Central Queensland. Eungella Bird Week is being organised by Birdlife Mackay for September 2023, to raise awareness of the uniqueness and value of the endemic Eungella birds.
- 4 days
- Over 140 species including the endemic Eungella HoneyeaterÂ
- Data collection and birding through the Eungella National Park and Clarke Ranges
The participants gather reliable scientific data with bird surveys at specified sites each day. Other bird and wildlife observation outings are held at a variety of locations in the Eungella District. The data gathered adds to what little we know about the population, distribution and habits of the Eungella Honeyeater, as well as the endemic subspecies of the Treecreeper, Rosella and Gerygone.
The program runs from Monday 11th September to Friday 15th September 2023. The package includes all meals (except breakfast), transport, guides and information sessions. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation and transport to and from Eungella.
