About the event
You're invited to join us for an afternoon on the Cairns Esplanade to welcome the waders back from their long journeys for 2021.
Migratory shorebirds are in trouble and many of us are well aware of this. However these nondescript brown birds are little known to the general public. Many species could eventually go extinct and very few people would realise they have lost these amazing migratory birds. You might be lucky enough to see Red-necked Stint, Bar-tailed Godwit, Black-tailed Godwit, Great Knot, Grey-tailed Tattler, Eastern Curlew, Whimbrel, Terek Sandpiper, Lesser Sand Plover, and Greater Sand Plover!
