About the event
Join us in celebrating the incredible journey of migratory shorebirds as they return to Cairns after their long flights along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway. These remarkable travellers spend their breeding season in the Arctic and then make an epic journey of thousands of kilometres to reach the rich mudflats and coastal habitats of Far North Queensland.
This special social birding event brings together locals, visitors, and bird enthusiasts to witness the safe arrival of our feathered guests. It’s a chance to marvel at their endurance, learn why Cairns is such an important stopover and feeding ground, and connect with the community in appreciation of these global voyagers.
Come and share the wonder of migration, enjoy the company of fellow nature lovers, and welcome back the waders to their tropical home.
