About the event
Challenges to enhance the biodiversity of wetlands
Let’s celebrate the World Wetlands Day at one of the most successful wetland restoration sites in Northern Queensland. Cattana Wetlands is a former sugar cane farm and sand quarry. Many native plants have been planted over the years. There have been a number of new challenges to enhance the biodiversity of the wetlands.
Geoff McClure, Denis Moeser and David Anderson will lead the group and show us some of the remarkable achievements in recent years along with learning local birds. We'll meet at the Cattana Wetlands Car Park. Appropriate footwear and sun smart clothing for field walk are suggested. If you have a pair of binoculars please bring them. There can be quite a few mosquitoes. If severe weather conditions are foreseen, this event can be cancelled without prior notice.
This is a free event for both members and non-members. Due to a potential COVID outbreak, please be mindful of the government requirements for outdoor activities at that time. We are looking forward to seeing you!
