Atherton Tablelands Bird Photography Group

Peter Valentine | Conservation Officer

The BirdLife Northern Queensland Branch has decided to support the establishment of an Atherton Tablelands Bird Photography Group. To be led by former professional photographer, Alan Sweet, the participants will engage in a program of learning and sharing techniques and pleasures of bird photography.

Objective: To assist participants to become better bird photographers (and to have an enjoyable time while doing so!).

This objective would be achieved through sharing and education.

The anticipated outcome will be:

1 Greater knowledge of birds, their behaviours and their habitats.

2 Greater understanding of cameras, camera functions and photography processes.

3 Appreciation of the ethics of bird photography.

By sharing knowledge and experience, and inviting experts to speak on specific subjects all would benefit.

It is planned to have regular meetings to learn about different topics and to share images as well as social field activities pursuing regular themes or species. An initial meeting will be held in Atherton on Wednesday, 21 June.

Meet at 15 Countryview Drive, Atherton at 7:00 pm. Intending participants can contact Alan on 0409275104 or email alansweet2023@outlook.com
